Should Cell Phones Be Banned in the Workplace?

Most people would never consider cutting in line at the company cafetaria or stealing somebody else`s personal parking space in the company parking lot. This courtesy seems to elude many people when it comes to cellular phones to be essential business tools, some people have taken the use of the phones on the workspace to extremes, spending hours a day in loud cell phone feel entitled to use the phones for personal calls because they may be paying for the service themselves. Psychologists have found that it may not be the cell phone users speech volume that annoys us, but rather that the person is having a seemingly one-way conversation with no one, which is a much more difficult background noise for the brain to filter out. Some businesses have declared one day of the week to be cell-phone free in the worksplace. Others have designated that cell-phones only should be used when working out side of the workplace. These workplaces, however, are very much in the minority. Should cell-phone use be banned or limited in the workplace? Why? or why not? Should simple rules of etiquette foe cells phone use be more publicized or enforced? why or why not? of so, by whom?
